Henschke Julius is a classic expression of Eden Valley Riesling. An almost perfect vintage has provided the lime aromas and an intense minerality. This region provides ideal ripening conditions for the Riesling grape and has a unique track record of exceptional ageing potential for the variety. The Eden Valley Riesling vineyard is planted on sandy loam over gravel and bedrock with patches of clay. The wine is named after ancestor Julius Henschke, a highly acclaimed artist and sculptor.
Sight/ Appearance
Clear on the sight with medium intensity. Lemongrass is what you recall when you look at this wine, not the aroma but the color.
Nose
Clean on the nose with medium intensity, feels like the wine is still developing. Lots of citrusy notes along with green grass, green fruits and minerality are found.
Palate
This is a dry medium bodied Riesling with medium plus acidity. Alcohol is also on the medium side with along with medium flavor intensity. Flavors of bitter lemon, green apples, lemon zest along with a hint of yeast and minerality.
Finish
Finish of this wine is quite impressive with medium plus length. A good wine which you can drink immediately, or if you feel like, can store it and drink in few years time.
