The song Bashma Chaina Mero Man is still loved by people and is still in our mind. When we think about that song, that cute looking singers face painting a lady on his canvas creates a flashback infront of our eyes. Rajan Ishan, the name popularized by that song still is able to hold his memories in everyones mind through that particular song. A lot of people or his fans of that era still listen to that song and its amazing to hear it in radios till date after almost 18 years. The song Bashma Chaina Mero Man has proven itself to be a song of every era, it wont be wrong if we call it an evergreen song. The same man is now creating all the hit numbers as a Music Arranger, the fact which many of his fans may not be knowing about. He is much comfortable inside his soundproof Arranging Room rather than singing infront of the crowd. He has arranged the most popular songs of recent years. If you really search his works, you will get amazed that your popular singer has given so much to music, creating such masterpieces. From the youngsters favorite Jhumke Bulaki to motivational song Asha Ajhai, from everyones favorite Pilayo Saathile to the Hindi Number Bas Tera Naam by Kunal Ganjawala and Devika Bandana, all are arranged by this dynamic Music Arranger. The Crore Views Crossing Numbers, Surke Thaili, Purba Paschim Rail and recent blockbuster song, Kutu Ma Kutu Supari Dana, all have proven to be masterpieces of Rajan. A very humble, down to earth, passionate of his work and a trendsetter in the field of Music Arrangement in Nepal, Rajan is not just a singer and an arranger. He is a very good composer, an efficient background score creator and a great lyricist. He has also worked for a Swiss Documentary, Sherpas, The True Heroes of Mount Everest as a Music Director along with Martin Villiger. This multi talented person couldnt hide himself anymore inside his Arranging Room. After all these years he has finally come out infront of the audiene and the viewers through his movies. After playing character roles in various movies, the recent being 2 Rupaiyan, finally Rajan has come up with a lead role in the movie Rudrapriya which is getting released on October 19. I am as simple as you see me in person or as you see me in crowd. But if I have to say regarding my passion other than music arrangement, I would say I am a very efficient lyricist. And only few people are aware of this fact and it might even surprise my fans but I am a very good sports person too. To be more specific, martial arts and basketball goes hand in hand. How do you analyze the Music Industry of Nepal? And also tell us the current scenario of Music Arrangers in the country. First of all I would comment in the word Music Industry. It is the wrong phrase when it comes to Nepalese music scenario. Music Industry basically means an industry which supports musicians, motivate and lead them to create better music, provide a platform for all the new and emerging artists. In the context of Nepal, it is a whole different story. Artists themselves have to self support their music, their creations and promote themselves. And in worst case they have to support the music industry (as you said) to sustain themselves. In context of music arrangers, they are the people behind every musical creations, the voice, but are always behind the scene, in the background, aloofHowever, compared to past, music arrangers now have earned quite a reputation in recent few years. [caption id="attachment_175" align="aligncenter" width="557"] Rajan Ishan as Narayan in Rudrapriya (Photo Courtesy Jiban Bhattarai )[/caption] You have always been known as the most successful and highly paid Music Arranger of the country whos creations have always broken own records. Focusing on the recent Crore views crossing numbers, Shurke Thaili, Purva Pashim Rail, and Kutu ma Kutu, please tell us how tough was it to reach this recognition? It is said that happy is the man who earns his living by his hobby. Of course to reach to this level I did have unturned many coals before I ended up with diamond but like the above saying goes, I was and I have always been determined to set the trend in Nepalese Music and for me till now it is still not enough. I am gonna take it to the next level. When Shurke Thaili first reached one million views, highest in Nepalese music scenario, it was indeed an achievement. My hard work and determination paid off well when Purva Paschim Rail and Kutu ma Kutu broke my own records. I must say me and my Mitjyu (we call each other Mitjyu) Rajan Raj Siwakoti have made quite a good team. I am happy to say I am a determined man who always believed in beauty of his dreams and have always been following it. From where do you get so much of inspiration? Mentioning a single person who inspired me would not be fair as there are many people who believed in me and inspired me to be a person I am right now. From my elder sister "Rohini Rana" who inspired me to sing to Alok Nembang Dai who directed my first hit music video. I have been indebted to each one of them. In case of my career as a music artist, when I played guitar for the first time, I knew I was born to be a musician, in that case I inspired myself. And above all, Music itself is my inspiration, it inspires me the most, and I know we are gonna go very well very long together. Despite being a very crucial part of Music Industry, Music Arrangement is still an overshadowed part. Why do you feel this is happening? And is it just in our country or is it the same scenario worldwide? To be honest, Music Arranger has not only been overshadowed in Nepal but its the same scenario around the world. We are the people behind the wheels but are introduced and appreciated very occasionally. However, in context of other countries, music arrangers are not overloaded with work other than arranging but in Nepal, music arrangers are obliged not only to arrange the music but to take full responsibility from scratch to final recording. I am the first Music Arranger to set this trend of displaying music arrangers name in every song, every music video I worked as I truly believe role of the Music Arranger cannot be neglected in any song and I need to get appreciated for my work. You have been a very successful singer in the past, your song Bashma Chaina Mero Man was the most successful song of its time and is still regarded as a song loved by every generation. Why did you almost stopped singing? Though I started my career as a singer, I would like to say it as a stepping stone towards music, not the milestone. The time when I started my singing career, I have been so naive and believed singing is what music is all about. The more I drenched myself into different aspects of music, the more I realized there is more to music other than singing. As a music technician and being a man behind the voice, I can see myself more creative and professional while as singer I would still call myself an amateur. May be thats the reason I am not much into singing these days. As you told us, you were a very good basketball and martial art player. Why did you quit sports? Well, I never actually quit sports. I was sports person then and I am a sports person now. Its just that, I didnt pursue sports as my career. I didnt take it professionally as I was not comfortable with the visible political involvement in the field of sports. In recent days, we saw another part of you, a part of an actor. How did this acting thing clicked you? It didnt clicked me, it actually clicked my friend Asif Shah. While he was making his first movie Karkash, I dont know how it clicked his mind but he believed I could play one of the characters in his film. To be honest it was something new I tried. I am always in verge of trying new things and acting is just one on the list. Well, I have always given my hundred percent to my work whether its arranging, singing or acting. As an arranger, I have justified my determination with my dedication. While acting is concerned, I am a learner but willing to give all of me and best of me. But music has and will always be my first priority. Your recent release, 2 Rupaiyan was a blockbuster. Do you think this movie will help you in your acting career? I would like to clear my point regarding acting as a career. It is a hobby, a field where I want to be good but its not the only thing I will be opting for as a career, as music is and will always remain my choice of career. As an amateur actor, I am fine with it. Professionally I will always be a musician. I am glad people appreciated my work in 2 Rupaiyan as Jhimrik Dai and I will be happy to do more of those in coming days if I find myself fitting into the character. Your movie, Rudrapriya is about to get released. What are your expectations from this movie? Can you please tell us something about your character and the movie itself. Rudrapriya is one of the most unexpected proposal I ever got. Director of the movie, Bobby Bhopal Singh, on one of his visits to my office all of a sudden offered me this role. He found I perfectly suit the character of Narayan, for which he was in search of an actor. Like my any other work, I have done my part sincerely and given my hundred percent. In such case, its worthy to expect a good feedback from the viewers. Talking about my character and the movie, Rudrapriya is a story focusing on a Triangular Love Story, I am one angle of that triangle. The remaining two angles are played by Rekha Thapa and Aryan Sigdel. The movie is beautifully made, has a fresh story and focuses on social issues prevalent in our community. I am not supposed to reveal the story here, I request all the readers to watch it and give us feedback. I am ready to improve myself, I just need your love, support and of course the feedbacks. A holiday experience which you can never forget Nothing in particular. Life itself is a holiday and everyday spent with the loved one is what I would like to call quality time. Little deeds of kindness, little words of love makes earth an Eden like heaven above. Any destination where you can never get bored Might sound funny but my music arranging sound proof room gives me the comfort than any other beautiful destinations in the world. Do you have fetish for anything? Well, I am passionate about musical gadgets/ musical instruments. I am always browsing new hypes in the market of music world. We heard you have a very good palate in terms of Food and Beverages. How did you develop it? My mom has always been a good cook. Maybe years of tasting her dishes developed my palate to this level. Besides that, I like to try new dishes, specially the specialty ones as well whenever I am in any restaurant. Any favorite outlet which you can visit again and again, and dont get bored? Any specific reason It basically depends on what mood I am in. At times I am alone and wanna spend a quality time with myself I would say The Coffee Shop is where I find my comfort. With my friends I enjoy hanging out in Himalayan Java. I also do love to stay in the balcony of Moondance in Pokhara in the evenings whenever I am there. Which is the most delicious dish you have ever had in your life? It sounds clich but every dish prepared by my mom. I just cant get enough of her creations. Do you like cooking? If yes, what is the best dish you can cook? I would say I am more of a critic, a reviewer when it comes to food. I enjoy being served rather than serving. If I have to say one dish I am good at cooking, Aloo Bhujiya is where I can show my talent. If you have to transform into a spice for a day, which one would you like to be? No doubt, I would prefer to be chilly since I am finger licking hot baby One dish you can never say no to even if your stomach is full... Well, I just cant say no to Kheer. Do you have an aversion or hate any particular food? I did try twice but I just could not eat Saunf ko Saag. It is not at all my kind of thing. If you wake up at the midnight and feel hungry, what is the first thing you grab to eat? Consider me as both diet conscious and too lazy to get up and eat, even if I am hungry at midnight, its a big no to food. Your favorite alcoholic beverages I am not so fond of alcoholic beverages. If I have to drink sometimes, I make sure I stick to a classy wine or a chilled glass of beer. Your favorite desserts Beside Kheer, it has always been a Baked Cheesecake. Any fast food which you know is not good for health, still you cant resist No one can say no to a French Lady, A classy French Wine and French Fries, even when they know sometimes these all are not good for health. What is your concept of a healthy lifestyle? I believe in the classical saying, We are what we eat, so eat healthy, exercise daily. Would you like to share your future plans with the readers? Nothing in particular, I live in every moment of the present and my effort has always been to make my present memorable and worthy. Anything you want to share with the readers History belong to those who believe in beauty of their dreams so be determined to fly and you will already be above the sky.
