You all might have already known about the reopening of The Everest Hotel, a very popular and one of the oldest 5 star properties of Kathmandu. Dont get stuck in the word old here coz the hotel is fully renovated and has incorporated the contemporary interiors. The Everest Hotel has now become a classy hotel with top notch looks yet carrying the old charm it used to have.
They have started their service with the opening of The Caf, a 24 hours restaurant
offering a wide range of delicacies. The Caf, an all-day dining restaurant is a self-service pool side restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is not limited to these three meals though. The Caf also has a midnight menu to cater the customers who want some bites in odd hours. The emphasis of the restaurant is on visual food displays in live cooking stations, offering the freshest product for each meal period. Value for money, choice and ongoing change utilizing seasonal products, The Caf offers Dessert counters, Italian kitchen, Grills, Nepali and Indian counter, an appetizer counter and a salad bar. Eating out of the pan, off the grill and out of the tandoor is what best describes The Caf.
The Caf opens from 7 in the morning till 10:30 for breakfast service with varieties, ranging from Continental, American, Indian and Nepali set breakfasts along with a long ala carte choices. After the breakfast time is over, you can indulge into their lunch and dinner menu which they serve all day long from morning 11 till 10:30 in the night. And I swear, this is my favorite menu, so many options that if I eat all 365 days here, then also I wont be getting any menu fatigue kinda feel.
I am one of the luckiest food lovers who could get indulged into the scrumptious feast The Caf offers as soon as it started its services. The lunch and dinner menu boasts some already popular international dishes along with some dishes with added innovation. Internationally loved salads like Nicoise, Insalata Caprse, Caesar are there in the salad section along with Smoked Salmon with an amazing caper flavored cream cheese. You will fall in love with their Arabic Mezze Platter which includes Falafel, Hummus, Babagnouche, Tabbouleh, Fatouche and Pita.
The Indian Appetizers are equally tempting with dishes like Ajwaii Jheenga, carom flavored tandoor cooked prawns which comes with mix of mint and cilantro chutney. The pickled Bekti Dish, Achari Machi Tikka is to die for with the peculiar pungent taste which will create your appetite for the dishes to come. They have a lot of varieties in the kebabs section as well like Galouti Kebab, Moorg ke Soole, Paneer Tikka, Bharwan Khumb and much more. The Seekh Kebabs are literal melt in mouth. For the Nepali Palate, they do serve the momos as well, so momo lovers dont worry, tie your shoe lace and run to the The Everest Hotel.
Varieties of International, Indian and Nepali Soups will definitely warm you up in this elongated monsoon as well as the coming fall and winter season.
You can also grab some quick bites from their, sandwich, burgers and rolls collection.
A long list of dishes awaits you in the main course from around the Globe. Steaks, Chops, Seafoods, Fish Dishes are there to tempt you if you too are a core non veg like me. And if you are a veg foodie, there are plenty of options for you as well.
Risottos, Raviolis and others pastas from Italian Counter are amazing options for those who love cheesy treats. The do have a good selection of pizzas as well. If you want to tickle you taste buds with varieties of cheeses at once, you should not miss the Pizza Quattro Formaggi, a pizza topped with blue cheese, parmesan, mascarpone and mozzarella. And if you want a Pizza with Indian kick, then go for Tikka Pizza with options of Chicken or Paneer.
And if I start talking about the Indian and Nepali Section, one write up wont be enough. If you want to taste Authentic Rajasthani Laal Maas or Kashmiri Roganjosh, then The Caf is the place you need to head to. Vegetarian curries too are delicious here, Nizam Handi, a mix veg slow cooked curry, Kadhai ke Khumb, Paneer Methi Malai are some must mentions. To accompany these curries, go for some steamed rice or varieties of rotis, naans, kulchhas and parathas. You can even dig your hands into their Dum Biryani with options in Mutton, Chicken and Vegetable.
Or go for some typical Nepali fare with Khasi ko Masu, Kukhara ko Masu, Aloor Kauli, Mustang Aloo, Saag and Daal along with rice.
To my surprise, I saw Kids Section as well in their All Day Menu which is a little rare affair in Kathmandu. Its not that elaborate but is enough for a kid to get indulged into with choices like, Pizzas, Khichdi, Chicken Schnitzel, Pastas and Paratha.
I was expecting very few Indian Desserts with one or two international sweet treats, but felt amazing with the selection of desserts The Caf offers. From Cheesecake, Mousse, Tiramisu to Gulab Jamoon and Kulfi, they have it all. What else does anyone need to conclude a luxury meal?
Now you must be thinking, if they have such elaborate all day menu then what would they serve at night? Let me clear you all, The Midnight Menu which runs from 11:00 at night to 6:30 in the morning is a shortened version the all day menu. It still has a lot to offer.
The Caf is such place where you can unwind, relax and have some really good dishes in the heart of the city without getting scared of hygiene and sanitation issues. The hotel has followed all safety protocols and is ready to welcome you.
Enjoy and Have Fun!!!
