Hotel Annapurna held its annual cake mixing event on 17 November 2019 to mark the upcoming Christmas celebrations and usher in the holiday spirit. Notable female dignitaries from embassies, travel and tourism industry graced the event.
The tradition of Christmas cake mixing dates back to 17th century Europe where the ceremony marked the arrival of the harvest season. During the time, fruits and nuts were harvested and soaked with spices and liquor for the making of the traditional plum cake.
At present, the tradition is observed globally by many to celebrate the start of the Christmas season. Hotel Annapurna made preparations for 40 kilograms of dried fruits and nuts to be soaked in an array of liquor. The mixture takes approximately a month�s time to infuse well and be ready just in time for the Christmas period.
The hotel�s CEO, Mr. Raju Bikram Shah said, � For the past three decades in the hotel industry, I have always cherished the time when we gather our friends, patrons, and well-wishers for the cake mixing event. Celebrating this well ahead of time ensures that all the ingredients and liquors mix well to create the perfect plum pudding.�
The cake mixture that will be prepared will also be available for sale The Cake Shop during the Christmas holidays for everyone to enjoy.
