Samikshya Sijapati Teku, Kathmandu You will sometimes see on French wine labels the termVieilles Vignes(old vines). In California, many Zinfandels are made from vines that are more than 75 years old. In Europe, South America, Australia, and South Africa Ive tasted many wines that were made with grapes from vines that are over 100 years old. Many wine tasters believe that these old vines create a different complexity and taste than do younger vines. In many countries, grapes from vines three years old or younger cannot be made into a winerys top wine.
