Dunga has recently become the most happening place in Lakeside. If you enter here late evening, you may not be able to get a seat despite it being a huge restaurant with 225 covers. It got opened in December 2016 and in less than a year it has become a favorite hangout place of Pokharelis as well as the tourists. Youngsters are the major market Dunga has covered, but it doesnt mean you wont find other people here. It is almost equally popular with corporate for their relaxed evenings, families for a good evening out and social gatherings. When you stroll around lakeside, its impossible not to notice the entrance of Dunga standing true to its name. A beautifully created Dunga (Traditional Boat) stands as an entrance leading directly to the stairs for restaurant upstairs. As you reach the first floor, you witness a huge restro lounge with varieties of seating styles ranging from table seating to lounge seating. A huge bar and a dance floor along with the stage for Live Music are the things worth experiencing. You can also dine in the ground floor which is more of a casual dining area with cane furniture and earthy ambiance. The interior of Dunga is done by the young and popular interior designer, Melina Shrestha. She has perfectly combined comfort and uniqueness in Dunga. Dunga is stretched from the street of Lakeside to a distance very near to the Fewa Lake from where you can enjoy the perfect view of the lake. In the evenings, the serene lake looks much soothing and it is the best part of Dunga that you can witness this solace. If you are an early bird, you may encounter the beauty of Mount Annapurna and Mount Dhaulagiri from this place. Lots of plants, a fountain, earthy colors, wooden ceiling, warm lighting make Dunga more appealing and very close to nature. Dunga offers an extensive selection of dishes. It focuses more on Asian Cuisine but also offers a good range of dishes for every palate. The Bar Menu too is quite extensive, and they do have Baristas too preparing a lot of Coffee varieties.   They have varieties of cocktails and mocktails prepared by five bartenders. We tried some of them, the cocktails here are the combination of classic as well as innovative ones. The Gardeners Choice was a bit different with smoky flavors of fennel seeds which was based on Tequila. The aroma and the flavors were balanced despite the smoky flavor created by fennel and turmeric. Pork Belly was the first dish to arrive on our table. It was a heavy dish, a fatty one, but who wants a pork dish without fat??? Pieces of Pork Belly, cut into squares served with boiled vegetables to balance the fat and mashed potato combined quite well. I have always loved the flavor of Midori, so we thought of tasting their Midori Margarita which too didnt disappoint us. For a taste in fusion, we ordered an ever popular Indian dish, Seekh Kebab. Seekh Kebab came in a very different way, a kind of small cart was doing the job of a plate. A different approach of plating a Kebab. Kebab, I wont say very tender or melt in mouth kind of experience, but tasted quite well and was soft enough to get my appreciation. The dip which accompanied the Kebab gave it some extra score. Then came the Golden Fried Prawn. Myself being a lover of seafood, couldnt resist this one. It was perfectly done, soft, not chewy at all and was served with Dunga special Homemade Pickle and sauted veggies. As they say, how much ever you indulge into the dishes, theres always a room for the desserts. And believe me, the desserts in Dunga are worth a try. Their specialty Mousse is soft, delicate, melt in mouth and, you wont get a better option to put on full stop to your elaborate meal. See you in Dunga. Chao!!!
