Henschke Julius is a classic expression of Eden Valley Riesling. An almost perfect vintage has provided the lime aromas and an intense minerality. This region provides ideal ripening conditions for the Riesling grape and has a unique track record of exceptional ageing potential for the variety. The Eden Valley Riesling vineyard is planted on sandy loam over gravel and bedrock with patches of clay. The wine is named after ancestor Julius Henschke, a highly acclaimed artist and sculptor. Sight/ Appearance Clear on the sight with medium intensity. Pale Straw color with lime hues. Nose Clean on the nose with medium intensity. Fragrant and focussed aromas of lime juice, lime blossom and kaffir lime leaf, with hints of grapefruit zest and green peppercorn. Palate This is a dry medium bodied Riesling with medium plus acidity. Alcohol is also on the medium side with along with medium flavor intensity. Pure and delicate flavours of lime juice, lemon and pink grapefruit are entwined with fine lime acidity and river pebble minerality, creating a textural mouthfeel and a subtly textured finish. Finish Finish of this wine is quite impressive with medium plus length. Textured, crisp finish with steely acidity.
