Kathmandu Marriott Culinary Academy Empowers Future Chefs on International Chef�s Day

Kathmandu Marriott Hotel recently organized a culinary competition for hotel management colleges across the country on October 20, 2019. This competition was organized by Kathmandu Marriott Culinary Academy which is a platform for budding chefs and empowering lady chefs to join the booming hospitality industry. A message of inclusivity, growth and passion was celebrated this International Chef�s Day at Kathmandu Marriott Hotel. With one mandatory lady chef per team, the Bagmati Ballroom was set ablaze with the hustle and bustle of competition as the amateur chefs began to measure their ingredients, saut� their sauces and fry their entrees as they made their way to prepare a three-course meal for the judges from scratch. They were scored on four basic parameters- presentation of the food, the story behind it, taste and the selection of dishes. The smorgasbord of delectable dishes was judged by Nepal�s first Executive Chef, Govinda Narsingh K.C, Nepal Tourism Board�s Marketing and Promotion Manager cum Director, Sunil Sharma along with in-house jury, General Manager of Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, Jean-Louis Ripoche, Executive Chef of Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, Sanjeev Ranjan and the Master of Ceremony and Training Manager, Rupesh Shrestha. According to the General Manager, Mr. Jean-Louis Ripoche, �We hope the experience was as enlightening for our participants as it was for us. The level of talent that was witnessed was truly world-class. The aim of the Culinary Academy was inclusivity and passion for food which is clear that the youth of Nepal has in spades.� According to Executive Chef Ranjan, �We at Kathmandu Marriott Hotel dedicate this International World Chef�s Day to all the young, bright and talented chefs across Nepal. We wanted to provide a platform where future executive chefs get a glimpse of the experience of cooking gourmet food under pressure and against the clock.� The Academy of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management was declared the winner and took home a 2-month vocational training in their desired field, NPR Twenty Thousand, a gift hamper, gold medal and certificate. The second and third prizes included NPR Ten thousand, a meal voucher for three, silver medal, a gift hamper and NPR Six thousand, Bronze medal and certificates were won by the Global Academy of Tourism and Hospitality and Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management respectively.
