Mr. Church

Genre: Drama Released on: 2016 Directed by: Bruce Beresford Starcast: Eddie Murphy, Natascha McElhone, Britt Robertson, Xavier Samuel, Natalie Coughlin

Bruce Beresford, the director of Driving Miss Daisy, returns with another film about a benevolent and infinitely patient black man who brings sweetness and light to the lives of white people. Eddie Murphy plays the title role in the movie, "Mr. Church", that of a cook who is sent to the home of Marie Brooks (Natascha McElhone), a cancer patient and single mother of a ten-year-old daughter, Charlie (Natalie Coughlin), whom shes raising alone. The action is set in Los Angeles in the nineteen-seventies. Mr. Church, a fine cook, is also an excellent artist, an Mr. Churchaccomplished jazz pianist and a literary connoisseur. He is at the Brooks home with Marie and Charlie all the time, from early morning until late at night. His cherished private time hardly leaves a moment for sleep. Mr. Church sees the now teen-age Charlie (Britt Robertson) off to college; and after a while she returns home pregnant. Mr. Church takes her in. The sentimental vision of improvised families is based on the total commitment and total dependence of a black man whose deferential manner reeks of subjugation and fear. Though the drama is repellent, Murphy is brilliant even when doing nothing, and the movies only redeeming moments capture his preternatural grace in the simplest actions. Amazingly, Mr. Church represents his first real lead as a dramatic actor in over 30 years into his reel life career. The best that can be said for this coming-of-age summary is that it shouldnt be his last; Murphy is amazing in it, creating a dramatic counterpart to all those comedies that have squandered his talent. Watch this movie once for Eddie Murphy, I promise you wont regret.Mr. Church The movie is full of delectable dishes, but we chose to present you a beverage this time which has played a significant role in the movie, a lemonade with Mr. Churchs signature twist, that is Lemonade with Licorice.
