To revive traditional art, give freedom to neo-traditional art and explore inventiveness in contemporary art through realization, Museum of Nepali Arts (MONA) is set to launch on February 2, 2020 at the Kathmandu Guest House, Thamel.
According to MONA, they intend to reconnect and reintegrate lost traditions, bringing generations that have grown apart closer together again.
They believe that since the world is turning into a global village, with mass migration and exodus of peoples, the true Nepali culture is at risk of being irretrievably lost in translation.
Through the exhibits, MONA provides an arena for both the artists and their art. MONA acts as a bonding force for people from diverse backgrounds, kindling better understanding within communities through morality and spirituality.
MONA intends to be a platform where different generations can come together and see the world through the same lens. This is especially important for Nepalese, whose social fabric is interwoven with rituals and traditions.
MONA will also serve as a guide for foreign visitors, so they may reach a greater degree of understanding of Nepal and her people.
The artworks which are displayed at the Kathmandu Guest House through MONA are exhibits only and not for sale.
