Ramada Encore by Wyndham, Thamel, Kathmandu announced its much anticipated official opening on January 8 amidst a ceremony in the hotel premise itself. Ramada is an American multinational hotel chain by the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and Ramada Encore by Wyndham is the first Wyndham Hotel in Nepal.Minister of Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali inaugurated the hotel. �We are extremely excited to welcome guests here in Nepal. It�s our first entry in Nepal and we are hopeful that we will create a mark that we are known for,�� expressed Nikhil Sharma, Regional Director- Eurasia, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. The brand is operating 9,600 hotels spread across 90 countries at the moment. Sharma assured the hotel will function as per the standard service norms under the supervision of Ramada. �The experience would be of world class. It�s our initiative to entice people with seamless hospitality experience�, mentioned Mr. Sharma.
Previously known as Thamel Plaza Hotels and Suites before getting tie-up with Ramada, the Chairman of the hotel Mr. Shanti Raman Pangenirevealed the reason behind getting Ramada. He told �We wanted to add beauty to the hospitality sector and we saw the tie-up as the best way to do so.� It is a four-star hotel with 90 rooms. Designed in contemporary architecture, the hotel is equipped with health club, health spa and massage, rooftop infinity pool, all-day dining restaurant, bar and lobby lounge among other facilities. As per Pangeni, the total investment of the hotel is 350 million and the investors include 36 businessmen of the country along with FDI, Nabil Bank and some NRNs. The board of directors are Santi Raman Pangeni, Bhim Lal Poudel, BhismaPrasai, J. N. Gyawali, Krishna Gyawali and Kali DasGotame.He informed they were ready to inaugurate the hotel on April 13, 2020 but had to postpone it due to COVID-19 pandemic. �We felt this year and this particular time as the right time to open. The vaccination against Covid-19 has come with a hope and with the launch of our hotel at this very time, we feel we are lending our hand to the tourism sector to revive,� he said.
Minister Gyawali said, �Opening of Ramada Encore has given the sign that the tourism sector has started to revive. We had many plans for the tourism sector but all got halted. But as we move ahead with positivity, the government hopes to promote everything once again and the hospitality sector would be on the top of the priority list.�
